Florentine Filigree Cowl

Designed for the Lambs On The Run trip to Italy in March of 2019, this lacy cowl takes inspiration from Italian art and architecture. The stitch pattern is Roman Stripe from Barbara Walker’s A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, while the colorway is Italian Marble, specially dyed for this project by Theodora’s Pearls.

The cowl is worked in the round in a reversible pattern that repeats over 2 stitches and 14 rounds. Instructions are given in both chart and round-by-round form. The cowl begins with a Channel Island cast-on and ends with a matching Channel Island bind-off for decorative edges. Links for YouTube video demonstrations of the decorative cast-on and bind-off are provided.
