Blue Lobstah' Cowl

Blue Lobstah’ Cowl

In honor of my Spring 2017 Knit For Fun Retreat in Freeport, Maine, this textured cowl pays homage to Maine and lobsters.

The crossover-stitch openwork pattern between garter stitch bands reminds me of the lattice on lobster traps. The yarn is Tern from Maine’s Quince & Co. in a “Blue Lobster” colorway specially died by Forage Color of Searsmount, Maine, for the retreat attendees. Although this particular colorway is not available, the rich texture pattern will show off well in any solid or semi-solid yarn.

The stitch pattern repeats over 4 stitches and 12 rounds and is quickly memorized, which makes it ideal for retreat (and other group) knitting! A Channel Island cast-on and bind-off gives the cowl slightly fanciful edges.
