Knit for Fun Retreats

Take a break from your busy life and join us for a long weekend of carefree fun! Ranging from 40 to 90 participants (depending on the venue), Knit For Fun Retreats offers a few days of learning, camaraderie, and above all, fun and surprises!

There are two domestic retreats each year—one in the spring and one in the fall. The exact dates depend on the availability of venues; all retreats fall over a weekend.

There is also one retreat each year in Canada. The dates for that retreat vary.

Each retreat will feature three instructors that I handpick—myself plus two others, or three if I serve as the Knit Doctor instead of teaching. Between the three (or four) of us, you’ll have lots of opportunity to learn new and exciting knitting techniques in a beautiful, relaxed setting.

What You Can Look Forward To

The retreat begins Thursday afternoon with check-in (nametag, room assignment, and a swag bag filled with fun surprises), followed by opening-night festivities.

Classes will be held in three-hour sessions in the mornings and afternoons of Friday and Saturday (and possibly Sunday morning) and will be limited to 24 students each. Your package will include three classes—one with each instructor. You’ll also get one free three-hour period for relaxing, exploring, shopping, or just having fun. For those of you who are “class junkies,” there may be an option to purchase an extra class in lieu of the free period, provided space is available.

If I (Ann Budd) do not teach classes Friday and Saturday, I’ll be available as the Knit Doctor for free one-on-one sessions of 20 minutes each. I’ll help you correct mistakes, find your place in a pattern, consult on how to fix a project gone wrong, take your measurements, help you choose yarn and patterns, or anything that’s causing a knitting stumbling block. You can request a Knit Doctor appointment when you register.

An optional full-day (six-hour) intensive class will also be available from each instructor before official check-in on the first day of the retreat. Those participating in this extension class who would like to arrive on Wednesday will have to make individual reservations for lodging (at the group rate). Lunch will be provided.

A marketplace will be open at least one evening of the retreat where you’ll find yarn and other knitting “necessities.”

Lodging, special class materials, meals (including vegetarian and gluten-free options), and treats will be provided throughout the retreat. In other words, you’ll be fully taken care of.

During registration, you’ll choose the classes in order of your preference for each instructor. Once the classes have been assigned, you’ll be notified of the yarn, needles, and notions you’ll need to bring as well as homework, if applicable.

Transportation

You will be responsible for your transportation to and from the event venue. We will provide information for a shuttle or van service from the nearest airport, when available.
