I’m all set to try Jeny Staiman’s Vanishing Point socks from page 126 of New Directions in Sock Knitting.
Jeny used Black trillium Fibres Gradient Yarn Lilt Sock kit in the Scotch colorway for her socks. I searched through my stash and found a lovely ball of Regia Hand-Dye Effect in color 06550 for my version.
These socks are worked “sideway,” beginning with a diamond on teh instep. Stitches for the front of the leg and top of the foot are worked outward from the four sides of the initial diamond. New cast-on stitches extend the work from the top point of th ediamond to the top of the cuff for the leg, and from the bottom point of the diamond to the tip of the toe for the foot.
Jeny recommends planning for about 20% negative ease in foot length because of the extra stretch in stitches oriented sideways. I’m going to follow the instructions of the second size (size Medium).
I think I’m in for a wild ride!
