Although I’ve been distracted by my first Knit For Fun Retreat in Park City, Utah, the past couple of weeks, I did manage to finish my version of General Hogbuffer’s U-Turn socks (page 100 of New Directions in Sock Knitting).
I made a slight adjustment to the cuff pattern by working four rounds of stockinette stitch before beginning the twisted ribbing. I thought the horizontal stripe all around the leg would be a nice touch. Instead of using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off, I worked the Tubular Bind-Off (described on page 154) for a more rounded edge.
The color gradation in the Kaumi (green) yarn was so subtle that there is very little color overlap between the two socks. Still, I like the way the colors blend in the mismatched pair.
Next up, I’m going to start Jeny Staiman’s Vanishing Point socks (page 126). What an adventure they will be!
Those socks turned out great! What yarn will you use for the Vanishing Point Socks?
