Recent Workshops

I’ve recently returned from a couple of weeks in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

While there, I taught Shadow Knitting and Intro To Sweater Design for Twisted Yarns in Portland, Oregon, in their beautiful spacious and bright classroom.

Twisted 1

Twisted is a great yarn shop full of great yarns, notions, and gifts. If you’re ever in the area, be sure to stop by and say “hi” from me to Emily (on the left) and Arwen (on the right), who treated me like someone special!

Twisted 2

From Twisted Yarns, I headed over to Happy Knits (also in Portland), where I taught Socks At Any Gauge, Matching Cast-Ons And Bind-Offs, and Top-Down Raglan Sweaters.

The shop mascot, Roco, took a surprising liking to me and kept begging me to pick him up. I happily complied, even when it meant that I taught much of the classes one-handed.

I think everyone had nearly as much fun as I did. At least they showed their brightest smiles for a group photo.

Happy Knits 4

If you’re in Portland, be sure to stop by Happy Knits and tell Annette, Beth, and Anna “hi” from me, all of whom treated me like royalty.

While there, I stayed at the historic Portland White House–an amazing bed-and-breakfast nestled in a quiet neighborhood.

Needless to say, I’m looking forward to returning to Portland to visit both of these excellent shops and the friends I made while I was there. Can I just say that live workshops are the best!?

  1. Hey Ann,
What fun you had and all the smiling faces! I was wondering what the picture/design/logo on Roco’s sweater was? I have 2 dogs at here who absolutely love to wear sweaters and couldn’t be happier when Fall rolls around! There are many great patterns but always on the lookout for what other dogs are wearing! LOL! Well, I’m sure your head is spinning, but nothing a few hours with your feet up and a bit of a nip to go with some mindless knitting will put things to rights for the next go-round…I am hoping you’ll be headed to Western North Carolina at some point…I’ll be ready with Needles in hand. Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and Thanks for sharing a bit of your life and wonderful talent with us all!!

  2. Hi, Ann:
I enjoyed your shadow knitting class at Twisted; thanks for the fun and informative time. Now I just need to finish knitting the sample from class, and the other charts to really nail it down.

And your knitted skirts are inspiring! Cheers, Michele

  3. I loved seeing your knitted wardrobe (in the pictures of this post)! Ann Budd knits in the wild! I think I’ll try knitting your skirt – I’ve been considering it for awhile but seeing how great it looks, I definitely have to try it! Now, I just need to remind myself not to start until after the holiday hoopla!
