Thanks to a really good PBS documentary on Robin Williams last night, I turned the heel on the first sock for my son Alex.
I using my “go-to” pattern of a k3, p1 rib throughout the entire leg and along the instep. I also used Priscilla Gibson-Robert’s technique of working the upper half of the leg on one size larger needle to help ensure a comfortable fit over the calf muscle. I changed needle size at the center blue stripe on the leg.
The beautiful needles you see are Signature needles, which have amazingly sharp points that make easy work of stitch manipulations such as k2tog and ssk. Plus, they are slick so that the stitches fly from one needle to the other.
Gotta go knit some more!
Go Ann go! Thanks for your wonderful sock tips!
do you prefer separate needles to knitting in the round?
I love your calf shaping idea!
Very nice! Barb k Rochester, NY
