I admit it — I’m a spoiled brat. I’ve just signed a contract with Craft Cruises to teach knitting classes on a knitting cruise from Sydney, Australia, to Auckland, New Zealand, next spring. I’m still pinching myself.
The cruise embarks Sydney on Sunday, March 22, and disembarks in Auckland on Sunday, April 5.
We’ll be on a Holland America cruise liner with all the amenities (believe me, it’s impossible to go hungry). The ship stops in Melbourne and Hobart (Tanzania) before heading to New Zealand to view Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, Port Chalmers, Christchurch, Picton, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga, and finally Auckland.
The days we’re at sea (there are only five of them), I’ll teach Cast-on and Bind-off Techniques, Introduction to Sweater Design, Socks at Any Gauge, Toe-Up Socks, and Sweaters from the Top Down with Set-in Sleeve Styling. Chris Bylsma will be our fearless trip leader and will lead a cruise knitalong so you can return home with a finished souvenir cruise project.
Join us if you can — I’d love to meet up with a few blog-readers while collecting wool and wooly things from Down Under.
How fun is THAT!!! Good for you! And your students!
Glad you are going for it! Why question whether you deserve it or not, you are talented. A chance in a lifetime.Have to butter up my husband to see if I can swing this one.
Only 9 months to wait for the ship!
In my head, I am thinking of packing strategies.
Tasmania, Ann. (You ought to see what I come up with when I try to remember “Lebanon”!) That sounds like a total dream–cruise and knitting and Ann Budd, all in Australia and New Zealand. Oh, I wish I could still travel.
